It started on June 21, 2003, with three people practising yoga at sunrise in Times Square.
The organization that now hosts the classes each year, "Solstice in Times Square: Mind over Madness Yoga," was created by two of them.
The event continued during the epidemic, streaming lessons live in vacant Times Square 2020 and at reduced capacity and socially isolated in 2021.
On Tuesday, yogis participated in seven free yoga courses that spanned from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., from sun rise to sun set.
"I'm a 75 year old (yoga) instructor, and I really believe that if you can practice yoga and find calm in Times Square, that's what it's all about."
