Oatmeal Raisin Cookies: How to Make Them

This tasty dessert is a classic, and it’s easy to change the ingredients to suit your tastes. What’s the big surprise? Plain Greek yogurt keeps the cookies from getting dry. We’ll keep it to ourselves.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of flour made from wheat
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Brown sugar, 1 cup
  • 1/4 cup plain Greek yogurt that is fat-free
  • 2 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/3 cups oats, either raw or rolled.
  • 1 cup dried raisins

Directions

  1. Turn the oven on to 350° F. Put parchment paper on two cookie sheets.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, cinnamon, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, mix together brown sugar, yogurt, oil, an egg, and vanilla. Mix the flour and water to make dough.
  4. Mix in the raisins and oats.
  5. Drop round teaspoonfuls of the mixture two inches apart on cookie sheets that have been prepared.
  6. Bake for 12 minutes, or until just a little bit browned. Do not overbake.
  7. To eat, slide the cookies off the parchment paper and onto the counter.
